Red Line
2007
Subways are terrestrial spaceships. Stainless steel and environmentally controlled transit capsules. But it is by no means a sealed space, much less a sterile one. A whole other biota populates the air and every surface as its own world. Place two fresh Petri dishes with growth medium under your seat as you ride from the Berwyn stop to Monroe on the Chicago subway. Put the lids back on and see what comes to be. The bacteria and fungus are the Red Line's smallest and most prevalent commuters.
