Flying Gardens of Maybe - Eco/logic Diagram

2012 - present

Fig_1_YANG.jpg

Where does it start, and where does it end?  This diagram is a visual overview of the Flying Gardens of Maybe ecosystem.  1, 2, and 3 mark pivots points in the ecology of interruption among birds, plants, architecture, urban animals, volunteers, museums, biologists...  The ancient and long-established ritual of migration of birds and the dispersal of seeds from the plants whose fruits they eat becomes tangled and re-routed in all so many ways.

Presented as a wall drawing at the Sullivan Galleries in Chicago, and as a mounted five-foot diameter didactic at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, this image provides a conceptual map to the distributed processes of the project and the varied actions, gestures, and actors within it.
